On the first anniversary of the adoption of the SDGs, the need for a data revolution is widely understood and public sector demand for new data sources, new tools and new approaches is growing. At the same time, the data philanthropy movement is spreading with companies and entire industries seeking to understand how to put big data to work for sustainable development.

Over the past six years, Global Pulse has been working across the UN, and in partnership with academia and private sector to advance R&D on big data for sustainable development and humanitarian action.

Last week, Global Pulse and partners showcased data innovation projects and collaborations for the SDGs in a series of workshops, events and interviews on the margins of #UNGA week.
